Welcome to Year Four’s Class Page!
World Book Day – 8th March
We may have had Arctic-like weather in the morning but it didn’t stop us from having a great World Book Day! In 4C we designed and created our own dragons based upon the various dragons we have read about in our Dragon Poems book that we are focusing on for our English lessons this half term.
Church Visit – 14th February
To tie in with our RE topic of this half term (Our World) we visited the local Methodist Church. During our visit we learnt about different things you can find in the church and what they are used for. We also took part in a quiz and learnt more about Christian creation stories. Thank you Reverend Drost for allowing us to visit!
Inspire Morning – DT
A huge thank you once again to all the family members who took the time to come and support our DT Inspire Morning on Monday 29th January!
Our focus for this hands-on activity morning was our current class book, Stig of the Dump. The children designed and made their own models of Stig’s cave based on an extract from the novel. I’m sure you’ll agree they look fantastic!
On Wednesday 10th January, 4C took part in a Judaism workshop in school. During the workshop we found out about the Judaism creation story, tried on some religious clothing such as a kippah and even got to try some Jewish food!
British Values Day
For British Values Day on 3rd November, we designed our own British flags based on things they felt were important to British society. We also designed and printed t-shirts based on things that make us happy. These t-shirts will be sent to a school in Cambodia for children that live in poverty. We have also written letters to the school to explain our designs and what it is like living in the UK!
Inspire Morning – Creative Writing
A huge thank you to all the family members who came to support our Creative Writing Inspire Morning on 28th September. The children loved working alongside their relatives to create scripts using extracts of Charlotte’s Web as inspiration. We even had a few brave volunteers act out their script, great work!
Roald Dahl Day
On 21st September, Wrenthorpe Academy celebrated the literature of Roald Dahl. Children in 4C took part in tricky Roald Dahl themed Maths challenges, wrote detailed character descriptions and had the opportunity to learn about the well-loved children’s author. Thank you for all of your efforts in ensuring your children looked the part with their fantastic costumes!
